What is Phase Separation? Will I be able to save any of the fuel?

Phase separation is the result of Ethanol absorbing water that is in the tank and becoming suspended in the fuel. This water laden fuel will be pumped into vehicles and cause engines to run roughly or not at all. If the ethanol absorbs its own weight in water it will drop to the bottom.

As far as saving the fuel that is in the tank, when phase separation occurs, the fuel is losing its octane level and unless this octane can be replaced, you legally can not sell the product. There is also a legal issue where companies that get a kickback from the government for using ethanol are now selling a product that has less ethanol than they were supplemented.
