What do I need to do to convert to ethanol?
Ethanol will act as a cleaning agent and will promote scale and other forms of particulate to migrate towards the pump. This migration of particulate will continually clog filters. If water is present in the tank, phase separation will occur.
The tank needs to be checked for water and particulate at both ends of the tank because most tanks are not level. Check the tank using a sampling device such as a bacon bomb or similar device. If water is the only thing that is present, then removing this is an absolute must. If particulate as well as water is present then you should have your tank cleaned.
Most distributors will recommend tank cleaning when converting to E10 or E85.
